First time connections to the DVR using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) require the installation of an Active-X controller.  This controller is not compatible with any other browser.  The Net software installation is the only other way to connect to the DVR remotely.

IE security settings need to be changed from the default to allow this software install, follow this procedure to install the Active-X controllers.

  • ADDING A TRUSTED SITE
  • In IE, select the Tools Button
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Security Tab
  • Select "Trusted Sites"
  • Select the "Sites" button
  • Unselect the checkbox, "requires server authentication https"
  • Add the DVR domain name or IP address in the top line and hit Add
  • Select OK

  • FORCING ACTIVE X INSTALL
  • On the Security tab, select Trusted Sites and then hit the "Custom Levels" button
  • Under the option "Download Unsigned Active-X Controllers" Select Enable or Prompt
  • Select OK and Exit all Tool bars

You should now be able to enter in the IP address of the DVR and have it prompt for the installation of the Active-X software.  This should only have to be done once to the PC.
